Cauliflower Tikka Bites or Tandoori Gobi is a delicious snack. In this recipe cauliflower florets are marinated in a spiced yogurt mixture and grilled in the air fryer. It can be served as a snack by itself or it can be added to the curry to make cauliflower tikka masala.
For vegan use plant based yogurt.
MAIN INGREDIENTS
Cauliflower – 1 medium size Cauliflower, cut into bite size florets
Yogurt – 3/4 cup Plain Yogurt / Curd, for vegan use plant based yogurt
Gram flour / Besan – 1/4 cup Gram flour / Besan
Ground Spices – Turmeric, Chili powder (or cayenne powder), Coriander powder, Garam masala, Cumin powder
Ginger Garlic paste – 1 teaspoon of Ginger garlic paste
Lemon juice – 2 teaspoon of Lemon juice
HERE ARE MY STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS WITH PHOTOS
STEP 1 : Preparation
Cut cauliflower into bite size florets. Rinse under running water and drain the florets.
STEP 2 :
- Take a large bowl, add plain yogurt (curd), gram flour (besan), turmeric powder, chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, black salt, lemon juice and regular salt.
- Whisk well without lumps (if required add 1 to 2 tablespoon of water to adjust the consistency).
- Add 2 to 4 drops red food color and give a good mix.
STEP 3 :
- Add cauliflower florets into the yogurt mixture.
- Toss well and make sure all the pieces are coated evenly.
STEP 4 : INSTANT VORTEX PLUS AIR FRYER METHOD
- Select Air fryer mode and set temperature to 375*F and time for 12 mins (or preheat your air fryer, if using different model).
- Meanwhile, grease the tray with cooking oil spray.
- Arrange coated florets in single layer, do not over crowd. Always air fry them in batches.
- Apply cooking spray oil on top the florets.
STEP 5 :
- Once preheat completed and when air fryer indicates “ADD FOOD”, open the lid and place dripping tray at the bottom of the air fryer and insert food tray in the middle rack of the preheated air fryer.
- Close the lid and air fry at 375*F for 12 mins, flip halfway through and cook until crispy (If required, for extra crisp, air fry for additional 2 mins).
- Once cooking is completed, open the lid and take out the tikka and keep aside.
- Repeat this process for remaining florets.
STEP 6 : Serving
Serve Cauliflower Tikka hot with Green chutney.
TIPS AND TRICKS
I have used 2 teaspoon of chili powder in this recipe, you can adjust as per your spice level or replace with cayenne powder.
Air fryer Model – I used Instant vortex plus 10 qt air fryer oven, different air fryer brands may cook at different rates, so be sure to keep an eye on food while cooking.
Avoid Overcrowding– Always cook them in batches, do not over crowd.
