Chili Garlic Edamame | Edamame stir fry recipe

Edamame are a delicious and convenient way to get more protein into your diet. This Chili Garlicky Edamame is an easy-to-make healthy appetizer or snack…deliciously addicting!

MAIN INGREDIENTS

Edamame – 450 gram of Frozen Shelled Edamame, thawed OR fresh edamame

Chili flakes – 1 tsp of Red chili flakes (adjust the heat as per your spice level)

Garlic – 1 tbsp of Minced Garlic

Soy sauce – 2 tbsp of Dark Soy sauce

Oil – 2 tbsp of Sesame oil OR regular cooking oil

INSTRUCTIONS

HERE ARE MY STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS WITH PHOTOS TO SHOW YOU EACH STEP

STEP 1 : Chili Garlicky Oil

  • In a pan add 2 tbsp of sesame oil, once heated add minced garlic and chili flakes.
  • Saute for 2 mins at medium to low heat (dont burn chili oil)

STEP 2 :

  • Add frozen edamame to the chili oil and stir fry for 2 mins at high heat.
  • Then add in 2 tbsp of soy sauce mix well.

STEP 3 :

  • Now pour 1/4 cup of water and give a good mix.
  • Cover and cook for 2 to 4 mins at medium heat.
  • Open the lid carefully, check for seasoning and add salt as required.
  • Stir fry edamame until all the excess water evaporated completely.

STEP 4 : Serving

Sprinkle some sesame seeds on top and serve.

TIPS AND TRICKS:

Substitute –

  • Both fresh and frozen edamame works well for this recipe, I have used frozen edamame (thawed)
  • In place of sesame oil, use regular cooking oil.

Variations – Steam edamame in a microwave safe bowl for 3 minutes. Add the warmed edamame to the garlic chili sauce and toss to coat. Season with sesame seeds and sea salt. Serve warm.

Storing – Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days. Before serve just warm the edamame for 30 sec in microwave or in a pan just toss for a min at high heat.
