MAIN INGREDIENTS

Kale – 1 Bunch of fresh Kale (6 oz), washed and drained

Cheese – 1/3 cup of Nutritional yeast, you can also use grated parmesan

Seasoning – 1/2 tsp Garlic powder, 1/4 tsp Onion powder and Sea salt as required

Oil – 2 tbsp of Cold pressed Extra virgin Olive oil OR cooking oil

HERE ARE MY STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS WITH PHOTOS

STEP 1 : Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 325*F
  • Wash and drain the kale and remove from stems. Tear into smaller pieces.

STEP 2 : Cheese mixture

In a bowl, combine nutritional yeast, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and olive oil. Stir until well mixed.

STEP 3 :

Massage the kale with the nutritional yeast mixture until the kale is evenly coated. Make sure that none of the piece have too much seasoning on them, or they’ll be soggy instead of crispy!

STEP 4 :

Spread on a lightly greased baking tray, ensuring that they’re not overlapping or stacked (I have used 2 baking trays for baking the chips)

STEP 5 :

  • Bake on the center rack of the preheated oven at 325 degrees F for 15 – 20 minutes, rotating halfway through.
  • Be careful because they can go from undercooked to burned very quickly! Every oven is different so be sure to keep an eye on them.

TIPS AND TRICKS

How to prevent burn? Each oven is different, so bake on the center rack by rotating halfway through. Be sure to keep eye on them, they can go undercooked to burn very quickly.

Why chips are not crispy ? Use 2 baking sheets and rotate them on the oven racks halfway through baking. Overcrowded pans will result in kale that does not become crispy.

Substitute – I have used nutritional yeast, you can replace with grated parmesan.
