Honey Sesame Chicken | Fried chicken recipe

Honey Sesame Chicken is crispy chicken chunks in a sweet sauce made with honey! This is just one of our many easy chicken recipes for everyday cooking!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound (500g) Boneless chicken pieces (chop into 1-inch chunks) 
  • 1/2 cup Cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp Plain flour / all purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp Salt (as required)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black pepper powder
  • 1 large Egg (beaten)
  • Oil for Deep frying

Sweet Sauce:

  • 1 tbsp Ketchup
  • 1 clove Minced Garlic
  • 1/2 tbsp Chili sauce
  • 2 tbsp Honey
  • 3 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 1/2 tbsp Corn starch
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 1 tsp Sesame oil OR Regular cooking oil
  • 1 tsp Sesame seeds

Garnishing:

  • Sesame Seeds 
  • Spring onions

Instruction:

  1. In a large, shallow bowl, whisk cornstarch flour, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Add beaten eggs to another bowl.
  3. Pour about 2 inches of canola oil into a deep frying pan and heat it over medium-high heat.
  4. Dip the chicken pieces into the beaten eggs.
  5. Add the chicken chunks to the cornstarch mixture and toss until well coated.
  6. Cook it in batches in the medium heat hot oil until golden and crispy (takes about 4 to 6 mins)
  7. Remove to a plate and set aside.

Sweet sauce:

  1. In a medium bowl combine all the SAUCE ingredients and set aside.

Final preparation and presentation:

  1. In a separate pan, add prepared sweet sauce and cook until the sauce thickened ( over medium heat)
  2. Now add in the fried chicken and toss for 1 to 2 mins at high heat.
  3. Sprinkle some of chopped green onion and sesame seeds and serve it hot for more crunchiness.

How to store leftovers:

  • Refrigerate: Refrigerate this for 3 to 4 days in an airtight container.
  • Freeze: You can put this in freezer bags and freeze for up to 4 months.
  • To reheat: Simply thaw and heat again in the oven.
  • Make ahead: You can prepare the meat separately and store it separately, too. Then, toss everything together and heat in the oven when needed.
